The Engagement

From baseline to breakthrough in a single structured program

In February 2026, FJC Global Services delivered the EPIC-A Communication Training program to a team of 30 engineers. Every participant completed the full program and was assessed before and after across five core communication dimensions using a standardized diagnostic rubric.

The EPIC-A framework measures five pillars of professional communication: Empathy, Purpose, Insight, Commitment, and Assertiveness. Each pillar is scored on a 0–2 scale, producing a composite score out of 10.

The pre-training baseline revealed a team operating well below its potential — not due to a lack of intelligence or effort, but because structured communication frameworks had never been formally developed. The engineering team had strong analytical capabilities but lacked the behavioral scaffolding to apply them consistently in collaborative and cross-functional contexts.

The intervention was designed to change that — in a single, high-impact, scenario-based training delivered by FJC Global Services facilitators.

Behavioral Findings

What the Psycholabor analysis revealed

Behavioral and psychological dynamics shaping the team's communication profile.

Cognitive Profile

Strong analytical reasoning and insight generation. Excels when given time to read and reflect — auditory retention is significantly weaker than visual processing.

Knowledge-to-Action Gap

Participants recognize effective communication when they observe it but struggle to apply it under pressure. Conceptual understanding outpaces behavioral execution.

Engagement Dynamics

Participation spikes when content is visually supported and tied to real professional scenarios. Passive instruction quickly leads to disengagement.

Leadership Modeling Gap

Participants repeatedly flagged the need for managers to demonstrate EPIC-A standards. Leadership alignment is a prerequisite for sustainable adoption.

Psychosocial Climate

The team has a strong desire to feel heard and validated. Psychological safety directly influences participation quality and willingness to express ideas assertively.

The Self-Awareness Gap

A 3-point difference between peer self-assessment (9/10) and facilitator evaluation (6/10) signals overconfidence in relational execution — the central focus of Phase 2.

What Comes Next

Phase 2: Converting awareness into culture
